OJECTIVES FOR FUNDING

About WeCare International Foundation

Our Mission

At WeCare International Foundation, our mission is to improve the lives of those in need by providing essential services and support to our communities. We believe that everyone deserves access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare.

Our funding objectives

WeCare International Foundation – Funding Proposal Overview

Established: 2012
Headquarters: Ontario, Canada
Operational Focus: Zimbabwe (Midlands Province, Gweru & rural/remote communities)

Organizational Background

Founded in 2012 in Ontario, Canada, WeCare International Foundation has been a dedicated force for over 13 years in addressing critical humanitarian needs across Canada and Zimbabwe. Our mission centers on supporting vulnerable populations — particularly those affected by poverty, disease, and social exclusion. Over the years, we have developed a targeted focus on assisting victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, orphaned children, and communities impacted by other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including congenital and infectious syphilis.

WeCare operates in both urban and deeply underserved rural regions of Zimbabwe, particularly in Gweru and the broader Midlands province, where healthcare access, disease awareness, and prevention strategies remain severely limited. Our organization is committed to addressing not just immediate medical needs but also the systemic, social, and behavioral determinants of health inequity.

Current Funding Opportunity – Syphilis Prevention and Research Partnership Initiative

This funding request supports our initiative to advance collaborative, community-centered intervention research and implementation science aimed at reducing the transmission and health impacts of infectious and congenital syphilis.

Objectives of This Funding Request

1. Advance Community-Centered Research Partnerships
Establish meaningful, respectful, and inclusive partnerships between:

  • Affected communities (especially Indigenous populations, rural and remote communities in Midlands Province, Zimbabwe, and those with limited access to healthcare).

  • Health researchers from academic institutions and applied research entities.

2.  Accelerate Knowledge Mobilization and Application
Strengthen the flow of information between:

  • Communities disproportionately affected by syphilis

  • Healthcare professionals

  • Local NGOs and community health workers

  • Policy and decision-makers
Through co-creation, synthesis, and dissemination of culturally relevant research findings and treatment strategies.

3.  Improve Health Equity and Address Root Causes
Conduct applied research that directly addresses:

  • Systemic barriers in healthcare delivery

  • Social and behavioral drivers of STI prevalence

  • Structural health inequities rooted in poverty, stigma, and lack of health education in target regions

Targeted Impact Areas

  • Gweru and surrounding rural communities in the Midlands Province

  • Remote and isolated villages in Zimbabwe with limited access to testing and treatment

  • Children and youth orphaned by HIV/AIDS

  • Populations facing intergenerational cycles of STI transmission

Conclusion

WeCare International Foundation seeks strategic funding and partnership opportunities to combat the growing threat of syphilis and related STIs among the most vulnerable populations in Zimbabwe. Through research, collaboration, and community engagement, we aim to improve health outcomes and build a model of sustainable, equitable healthcare access in regions historically overlooked by global health initiatives.
