OUR HISTORY
OUR HISTORY
With the ever-increasing need for humanitarian non-profit work in the 21st century, WeCare Foundation was formed in Canada in 2012 to provide home-grown, sustainable and sensible solutions. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the warm and passionate hearts and helping hands of the amazing philanthropic community!
WeCare Foundation as a humanitarian, non-profit community initiative is the brainchild of a Zimbabwean born and bred couple, Dr. James Tiriboyi and wife Tracy, who having stayed in Canada, for the last four decades, thought about how they can think of assisting needy children and disadvantaged people back home in Zimbabwe.
Dr. James Tiriboyi, Founder and President of the Foundation, is a seasoned veteran with vast experience working in Canada as a Chaplain and Social Worker, working in the Communities and Hospitals in North America. He has worked in different organizations, with children with special needs in vulnerable situations. He worked in different capacities as a leader, a teacher, a preacher, a counsellor, psychotherapist, and trainer and as the President & CEO OF WeCare Foundation His passion is derived from the need to give back to the people of Zimbabwe, where, from humble beginnings, he grew up, in a poor family. With the richness from this heritage, he understands poverty and suffering more than many people experiencing hardships. He has been raised from the proverbial grass to grace. He has thus embarked on a spirited trajectory to embark on a local led development initiative, whose agenda is set by the local people. His pledge for change is led from the global south and seeks to develop communities by bringing remarkable help to the needy, the poor and the destitute, helping Children in need of Care, the disabled, widows, and all who are in dire need of assistance.
James is accelerating progress on programme excellence, trust, cost efficiency, international fundraising engaging donors from the global North. The fruits of this labor and the dreams will soon be seen crystallizing into reality as everything is God driven, for with God nothing is impossible! With support from Tracy, the couple formed a formidable and ambitious pair, destined to bring back hope and smiles to a multitude of deserving children in marginalized communities of Zimbabwe. WeCare International Foundation was later registered as a Trust in Zimbabwe in 2020, registration number MA 4093/2020

WeCare International Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in Canada in 2012. In 2020, WeCare International Foundation was registered in Zimbabwe as a Trust. The Foundation has a dual mission: it is both a charity dedicated to advancing charitable objectives and a committed supporter of children in need of care and persons living with disabilities.
Since its inception, WeCare International Foundation has assisted over 1,000 children, adults, and their families in Zimbabwe. Support is provided in various forms, including educational assistance, psychosocial support (PSS), livelihood initiatives, and income-generating activities (IGAs). WeCare International Foundation's mission is to build capacity among the people of Zimbabwe by collaborating with local and international universities (particularly Social Work departments), teacher training colleges, churches, and theological colleges.
This creates a network of volunteers and resource persons dedicated to supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
The Foundation focuses on helping children, orphans, disadvantaged youth, and their families, particularly in the areas of education, primary healthcare, mental health and PSS, and economic empowerment.
We also give back to communities through diaspora engagement initiatives, encouraging those abroad to contribute meaningfully to development efforts.
